Closter is a small but beatutiful community about 3.3 square miles and is located in Bergen County, New Jersey. Closter is located just under eighteen miles from New York City and just seven miles from Yonkers, NY. Approximately 8,400 people reside in this community. Homes in Closter are predominantly single family, but there are some more dense, multi-family units scattered throughout the community. Commuting is easily accomplished by bus, train or car. Closter is conveniently located near the Palisades Parkway and approximately twenty five minutes from the George Washington Bridge.

During the 19th and early 20th centuries, Closter evolved into a suburb of New York City, which is how Closter exists today. Students attend Closter Public Schools for kindergarten through eighth grade. Schools within the district are Hillside Elementary School and Tenakill Middle School, and High school students attend Northern Valley Regional High School located in neighboring Demarest. Northern Valley Regional High School hosts students from Closter, Demarest and Haworth.
